Ireland Wadokai Karate Association
IWKA’s philosophy is to preserve and develop the integrity and traditional ethos of standardised JKF Wadokai Karate. We strive to accomplish this in an environment of courtesy, propriety and self-discipline. We further seek to foster a spirit of fellowship and understanding by welcoming all like-minded individuals, regardless of abilities or inabilities. We aim to develop individuals who will be positive, respected and contributing members of society.
“The ultimate aim of the art of karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection
of the characters of its participants.” –Gichin Funakoshi

I.W.K.A. Technical Committee
The 6 members of the Ireland Wadokai Technical Committee who teach on the traditional squad training sessions and also sit on the IWKA grading panel.
I.W.K.A. has made history by having the first JKF panel in Ireland, with having two 2nd kyu & three 3rd kyu examinars in it’s ranks. We look forward to adding to this in the near future.
In June of 2024, IWKA ran a very successful seminar with two of the great JKF Wadokai Masters. The Seminar was held in St. Patrick’s College Campus in Dublin, with Sasaki Sensei 8th Dan and Kohata Sensei 7th Dan on June 7th/8th/9th 2024.
Students and instructors came from all over Europe and Canada to train and it also gave an opportunity for karateka to grade from 1st Dan – 5th Dan on the Sunday.
The picture below is from those who trained on the Sunday.
